Thanks for visiting my site. My name is Ashok Krishnan, and I live in Chennai, India. The city was earlier known as Madras.

One Stop Micro is wholly owned by Welsachi Ventures and Services Private Limited.

I am a micromachinist and entrepreneur in my early 40s. A micromachining system typically has several subsystems, like motion controllers, stages, amplifiers, the micromachining tool itself. All of these are linked electronically, so in essence I am an Electro-mechanical or Mechatronics engineer!

My wife and I have a 9 year old girl- the light of our life. My undergrad is in Electrical Engineering. A chance reading of a physiology book by Guyton inspired me to take up Biomedical Engineering as my graduate program. And I followed it up with another M.S in Mechanical Engineering.

Much of my graduate work was related to the ‘micro’ world, all thanks to a new, DOE funded, broad based micromachining facility that came up at our University. We had capabilities like mechanical micromachining, microEDM, FIB micromachining, traditional silicon microfabrication, and laser micromachining. I also got to use a host of micro-metrology equipment. When I needed to fabricate some fixtures with micro features for my research work unrelated to laser micromachining, my advisor suggested I get familiar with the laser systems because it would also help in industry job-prospects. How right he was!

After I was hired for a staff position at the same facility, I continued using laser and other tools for micromachining, and also taught tiny portions of Micromachining and Micrometrology classes. Later, I took up a job at a purely laser micromachining company in the North-East USA, and spent several years using various types of lasers in a job-shop environment. Most of my work was related to laser micromachining using UV and IR lasers, including both gas and solid state (fundamental, tripled, and quadrupled) lasers.

I live in India now, and have been doing consulting work on micromachining and other things. Please let me know if you need help or advice with anything- motion, vision, micrometrology, micromachining, or general liaison- and we will work out something.

If you have any questions, please post it as a comment in one of the Articles. I will try to answer your questions provided they are not highly specific. If you want to maintain confidentiality, please E-mail me. Questions not asked or answered in the public areas of this site are usually done on a paid consultancy basis. To put it another way: Free consultancy is done on the site’s comments sections for the benefit of all readers. And this also lets other readers add their thoughts, leading to a healthy discussion.
