Read the section below to get a better understanding of your needs. You can then read some of my postings that might be related to these questions, and call me or Email me to discuss further.
(A) I have a micro part to be made, but don’t know how to go about it.
- Is it really a micro process?
- Are you testing out an idea, or are you ready for prototypes?
- Have you settled on a material and a process?
(B) I have a micro part to make, and it needs laser micromachining.
- Are you sure you need laser processing?
- What quantities do you need in prototype and production?
- Do you want to fabricate these in-house, or would you rather go for outsourced production?
(C) I don’t really have a part to be made right now, but want to know more about laser micromachining.
- Different types of lasers
- Different types of processes: gas assisted, liquid assisted..
- Different size ranges
- Different motion and vision systems
- Fixturing requirements
Remember, it doesn’t have to be a micro product- it can be a meso product. Something in between micro and meso. Like 500 microns slot in tough material like ceramic, or a 100 by 100 array of 1 mm holes on 2 micorn thick polyimide. Or leak test holes, or patterns on tubes- like stents.
